Fortitude Valley renewal
Fortitude Valley has a unique place within Brisbane's urban environment and history. It has a distinct identity and cosmopolitan character, reflected by a range of residential, commercial, cultural and industrial uses.
Fortitude Valley's proximity to public transport and connections with the Central Business District (CBD) makes it ideal to accommodate future growth.
Draft Fortitude Valley Neighbourhood Plan
Over the last two years, Urban Renewal Brisbane has prepared the draft Fortitude Valley Neighbourhood Plan. This has been done in consultation with the community and other stakeholders.
The draft Plan:
- reinforces Fortitude Valley as a major entertainment, cultural, tourism, retail and business centre
- supports growth and increased building heights
- establishes a 'special context area' that protects the location's character and heritage
- improves the public domain with footpath widenings, cross block links, small scale spaces and new public spaces
- reinforces a strong link between land use and public transport
- extends the Special Entertainment Precinct buffer
