Rocks Riverside Park

Three major zones

Rocks Riverside Park has three major zones:

  • the river flat - formerly a rich riverside environment, market garden and industrial site
  • the bushland ridge - forming a backdrop to the river flat area and covered with dry eucalypt forest
  • the major green link from the park to suburbs in the south

Fifteen main areas are located within these zones.

Features

Set on the site of the former Queensland Cement Limited quarry, Rocks Riverside Park features:

  • industrial artefacts throughout the park
  • public art reflecting the park's industrial heritage

The Great Lawn area:

  • has approximately 8,000m2 of open grassed space
  • is adjacent to the fixed, ground level, concrete open-air stage. It provides 70mof space for events. An electrical switchboard is available and heavy vehicles can access the area if weather permits

The Amphitheatre:

  • provides grassed benched seating and approximately 450mof informal seating area for audiences. The staging area is suitable for smaller intimate events than the Great Lawn staging area
  • has no on-site power
  • junior playground suitable for toddlers to eight year olds
  • a half-size basketball court, flying fox and a climbing net  

Crusher Pavilion venue:

  • was designed and constructed around the original crusher structure used in the cement manufacturing process
  • includes basic kitchen facilities
  • has access to power points

Things to do

At Rocks Riverside Park, you can:

  • enjoy the water play area
  • have a picnic or barbeque with family and friends
  • cycle or walk along the 800 metre riverside promenade
  • watch local performers at the community amphitheatre
  • hold community or corporate functions at the:
    • Crusher Pavilion
    • open-air stage near the Great Lawn
    • Amphitheatre
