Whooping cough alert
Australia has the second highest rate of whooping cough in the world.
Brisbane had a 200% increase in the number of cases diagnosed from 2005 to 2006.
Every year a number of our newborns die after contracting this disease. Most of them caught the infection from a close family member. You can help stop this disease by:
- vaccinating your baby from birth onwards for free
- having an adult whooping cough booster
