New Farm Park and City Botanic Gardens to close

28 January, 2013

Brisbane City Council is closing New Farm Park and the City Botanic Gardens to assess damage from the ongoing severe weather event.

Council will erect signage from tomorrow morning to advise of the closure, however are asking residents to avoid the area in the meantime.

The decision was also made to ensure damage to both parks is minimised, following the high level of rainfall and strong winds of the past few days.

Bikeways, which run through both New Farm Park and the City Botanic Gardens, have also been closed.

These closures are part of a wider Council assessment of the city’s parks, with Council working to ensure parks are restored as quickly as possible.

Council is asking residents to be patient with any disruptions while Council focuses on assessing damage.

Residents are also encouraged to report any damaged parks to Brisbane City Council via Council’s Contact Centre on 07 3403 8888.
