Council clean up well underway

Brisbane City Council is responding to the severe weather event with Council Officers currently undertaking clean-ups in multiple suburbs.

Nine street sweepers were dispatched this morning, and to date have cleared more than 51 kilometres of road and removed more than 16.5 tonne of debris.

These street sweepers are currently moving through the following suburbs:

  • St Lucia/Toowong
  • Everton Park
  • Dutton Park
  • Holland Park
  • Tingalpa
  • Kenmore
  • Bald Hills
  • Carina/Highgate Hill

Currently 15 SES teams consisting of 73 members have completed almost 30 jobs across Brisbane this morning, while Council has provided 42 staff across nine teams to assist.

Sandbag collection across the city is continuing, with a total of 157,417 sandbags collected since Friday.

Council’s Contact Centre has also received almost 6,500 calls since the severe weather event began on Friday, with large numbers of calls regarding fallen trees, roads and requests for assistance.
