Council Annual Plan and Budget 2012/13

Lord Mayor Graham Quirk has announced the 2012-13 Brisbane City Council Budget, and how residents will benefit this financial year.

The key areas of the $3.11 billion Budget include:

$1.3 billion for infrastructure investment:

  • $108.2 million for suburban road resurfacing and repairs
  • $58.3 million for suburban footpaths and bikeways
  • $47.2 million for removal of open level crossings

$15.9 million for capturing Brisbane's economic growth potential:

  • $1.5 million for global resource hub and investment attraction
  • $200,000 for the new business hotline
  • $729,000 enhancing business visitation
  • $189,000 for Brisbane Greeters

$500 million for public transport:

  • $42 million for the first 90 of 360 promised new buses
  • $10.5 million to ensure Disability Discrimination Act compliance for ferry terminals
  • $7.7 million to deliver an accessible Public Transport Network in Brisbane suburbs

$347 million for a cleaner and greener Brisbane:

  • $137 million for parks
  • $19.6 million for grass cutting
  • $18.8 million for a clean city
  • $116.5 million for waste management
  • $9 million for graffiti removal and prevention
  • $7 million for street sweeping and neighbourhood amenity maintenance
