Civic Cabinet and Committee responsibilities

Adrian is the Chairman of the Finance, Economic Development and Administration Committee and is a member of Civic Cabinet, together with the Lord Mayor and the six other committee chairs.

This committee oversees the financial management of Australia's largest council. A key part of this role is assisting the Lord Mayor with the preparation of Council's annual budget. Through responsible financial management, Council has been able to invest more than ever before in our suburbs, whilst also delivering the major road and transport upgrades our growing city needs.

In July 2010, the Lord Mayor asked Adrian to also take responsibility for Council's Economic Development program. This program works to enhance Brisbane's capacity for long-term economic growth and includes the oversight of Brisbane Marketing as well as the Queen Street and Valley Malls.

Following the resignation of Campbell Newman in April 2011, and his subsequent replacement by Councillor Graham Quirk, Adrian was endorsed as Brisbane's Deputy Mayor.

Community Development

Adrian is actively involved in supporting and assisting a wide range of local community groups, including environment and bushcare groups, sporting groups, P&C Associations, church groups and charities, Neighbourhood Watch groups and seniors associations.

He is honoured to be the patron of the Brisbane Metropolitan Touch Association, based at the Whites Hill Reserve, and the Square Dancing Society of Queensland.

Adrian is also a Vice Patron for the Queensland Target Sports Inc, home of the Queensland Olympic Rifle sports shooting disciplines in Gumdale.

He is a member (life subscriber) and former State Councillor of The Australian National Flag Association of Queensland (Inc.), an organisation aimed at promoting the importance and significance of our chief national symbol, the Australian national flag.
