Steven Toomey became Councillor for The Gap Ward in June 2015 upon Geraldine Knapp’s retirement.

Steven was originally from Far North Queensland where his family were involved in cane farming and rail. He first moved to The Gap Ward in 1997 to pursue a trade in electronics and is currently studying an Honours Degree in Construction Management.

He lives in Ashgrove with his wife and children who both attend local schools. He is an active member of the local sporting community and can be found most Saturdays volunteering at events.

Steven currently sits on the Environment, Parks and Sustainability Committee and the Neighbourhood Planning and Development Assessment Committee.

As the new Councillor for The Gap Ward he looks forward to attending the P&C and P&F meetings at the Primary and High Schools in the Ward.

Steven actively supports and promotes Council events, news and activities in the Ward via a monthly Enews as well as social media and his Ward webpage.
