The Parkinson Ward comprises the suburbs of Heathwood, Larapinta, Pallara, Algester, Doolandella, Parkinson, Willawong and parts of Calamvale and Forest Lake.

Councillor Angela Owen-Taylor

Cr Angela Owen-Taylor was elected as the first Councillor for the ward of Parkinson in 2008 as part of former Lord Mayor Campbell Newman's team.

A long term community advocate, Cr Owen-Taylor has lived in the local area over the last 28 years.

Through her role as spokesperson for the Calamvale Algester Parkinson Association of Residents (CAPAR) since 1995, Cr Owen-Taylor has a track record for representing the community's best interests on many occasions. She has also worked on behalf of the local community on other issues such as:

• the $113m Rail Overpass at Acacia Ridge
• the extension of Algester Road in Parkinson
• co-founding the local Blue Light Association
• improving safety around local schools by securing traffic lights and footpaths

Professionally, Cr Owen-Taylor has worked in senior management and financial positions, political advisory roles and lectured at a university masters level. 

On 3 November 2009, Cr Owen-Taylor was appointed as Deputy Chairman of the City Businesses and Local Assets Committee and on 1 July 2010, she took on the role of Deputy Chairman of Council. More recently with organisational re-alignment in 2011, Cr Owen-Taylor is now the Deputy Chairman of the Field Services Committee as well as Deputy Chairman of Council and the Councillor assisting the Lord Mayor with Multicultural Affairs and International Relations. Cr Owen-Taylor also sits on the Finance, Economic Development and Administration Committee, the Brisbane Lifestyle Committee and the Oversight of Consultancies Committee.

Cr Owen-Taylor has also been appointed to the Council of Mayors Trailbike Taskforce and as the Council of Mayors representative to the State Government Trailbike Industry Reference Group.
