Economic development

Brisbane City Council’s Economic Development Program enhances Brisbane’s capacity for long-term economic growth. It coordinates and implements projects to attract visitors and industry, investment and jobs.

Council has recently appointed two Jobs and Skills Development Officers to help Brisbane businesses access support and remain economically competitive following the 2011 natural disasters and the skills shortages affecting Queensland.

Brisbane also has nine Sister Cities in the Asia-Pacific region, and Council has partnerships with other cities and affiliation with a wide range of organisations around the world.
