Work experience and vacation employment

Work Experience – secondary and tertiary

Brisbane City Council's work experience program gives high school and tertiary students the opportunity to gain practical on-the-job experience in a diverse organisation. This experience can help you make an informed decision about your career.

Work experience helps you make an informed decision about your career. Work experience applications are open from March to April each year, for placements throughout the year.

Eligibility

To be eligible you must be either:

  • a secondary school student who is at least 14 years old
  • a TAFE college student
  • attending a school for people with disabilities
  • from an approved work experience referral agency
  • a university student (if work experience is a mandatory requirement to complete your the relevant course)

Work experience positions are unpaid and placement is usually offered for 10 days. Students must be registered with a recognised school, tertiary institution or referral agency that covers them for personal insurance and public liability.
