Community gardens

Brisbane City Council has a network of community gardens and city farms where people meet to grow produce, flowers or native plants to enhance health and well-being.

Community gardens create a sense of community in neighbourhoods, offering local residents the opportunity to engage in active and social activities, develop friendships, socialise with neighbours and connect with residents in their local community.

Working with existing community garden groups, Council provides support and resources to help ensure the long-term success of their gardens. Council also helps community groups with their tenure obligations to keep their gardens safe for their members and the community while also ensuring these spaces remain inclusive, accessible and welcoming for the whole community.

Find your local community garden

With many community gardens already established across Brisbane, there are some great opportunities to join existing community gardens to help them to maintain a sustainable membership base. Some gardens would benefit from more active volunteers, and we encourage interested community members to explore the diverse range of existing community gardens.

To volunteer, get free gardening advice or find out how you can help your local community garden, check the following map. You can also view this as a list or a table.
