Disability services
Brisbane City Council provides disability services and facilities that make it easier for everyone to access the city's services.
Auslan interpreter services
Brisbane residents who require an Auslan (Australian Sign Language) interpreter can make their views known to Council without bearing the cost of an interpretation service.
Council will organise and pay for the interpretation service, which is being delivered by Deaf Services Queensland on behalf of Sign Language Communications.
Book an Auslan interpreter
Residents can book an Auslan interpreter to:
- participate in a Council-run event
- discuss involved matters with a Council officer
To book an Auslan interpreter, use our online booking form or phone Council on 07 3403 8888. Allow three weeks to book a meeting, as interpreter availability cannot be guaranteed with short notice.
Cancel an Auslan interpreter booking
To cancel an Auslan interpreter booking, use our online cancellation form or phone Council on 07 3403 8888. Council requires a minimum of three working days notice of the cancellation.
Braille trail
The Braille trail runs down both sides of the Queen Street Mall. Tiles with ridges indicate the direction of travel along the trail. Tiles with raised dots are used as warnings.
There are six cross over trails between the two main trails. The trail also now runs through Reddacliff Place between the Treasury Casino and Brisbane Square Building.
