Community Development and Capacity Building Grants


Brisbane City Council's Community Development and Capacity Building Grants provide funding to local not-for-profit groups to improve and develop services that respond to local and city-wide issues in Brisbane.

Projects that achieve one or more of the following criteria may be eligible for funding:

  • to increase community identity and connections
  • to increase social inclusion
  • to build innovative and effective responses to emerging community needs and social issues
  • to increase the skills, knowledge and understanding within the community sector to respond to community issues and need


Funding amounts range from $2000 to $10,000.

Funding round dates

This grant is now open for applications. Submissions will close at midnight on Monday 14 September. Applicants will be notified of the outcome of their application in late December 2015.


Applicants must be a not-for-profit incorporated organisation, or be under the auspices of a not-for-profit incorporated organisation and able to accept legal and financial responsibility for the project or activity.

Applicants must not have any outstanding debts or overdue unacquitted grants with Council.

Acquittal reports for successful applicants

If your application is successful, you will be required to complete an online acquittal form within 12 months of grant approval notification.

Grant recipients with overdue acquittal reports are not eligible to apply for other Council grants.
