Air quality
Brisbane is in the centre of the South East Queensland airshed. This airshed is the air volume that is enclosed by the surrounding mountains and bay islands. Pollutants can get trapped and build-up within the airshed until rain or strong wind clears the air.
Pollutant levels within our airshed can be increased by:
- geography
- subtropical climate
- weather patterns
- urban growth
- pollution sources
