Booking parks for special events

To reserve an area for a special function, large corporate function or major event, you can book designated sites in Brisbane City Council parks and gardens. Non-designated sites in other parks may be booked for a flat fee of $263 (inc GST) with no time limit.

Standard conditions apply to all park bookings, however special conditions may apply to some bookings depending on the event and park booked.

All booking conditions must be complied with to ensure parks are maintained for everybody to enjoy.

Designated sites

Designated sites are generally available between 8am - 7pm, seven days a week (minimum two hour booking):

• you must book the designated site at least five working days prior to the event.  If the event is being held in less than five working days, the booking cannot be processed 
• for each two hours a $263 (inc GST) booking fee (valid from 1 July 2011) applies
• bookings apply to the single area you choose in the park and to the use of a rotunda or power (if available)
• you can't book barbecues, shelters (other than marked rotundas) or playgrounds; you must share these facilities with other park visitors
• the booking fee is refundable if you give two working days notice of cancellation in writing
• a security bond may apply if you bring your own equipment such as a marquee
• vehicle access is restricted in many parks, but may be negotiated at Council's discretion in some parks
• if you are selling food at your event, you will need to read the licencing information and submit a Temporary Food Stall Licence (PDF 46kb)

Major events

If you want to hold a major event in Council parkland and/or an event that is open to the public where it is anticipated more than 2,000 people will attend, you need to apply for an Entertainment venue and events permit.
