Lessons in the gardens

Many outdoor learning lessons are available for school students at Brisbane Botanic Gardens Mt Coot-tha and City Botanic Gardens.

A lesson at these botanic gardens offers your students an irreplaceable, hands-on experience, where they can see science theory in action, or explore geographical concepts through observing the plants and animals that live in our many unique habitats. It’s a special place – with plants from around the world and living examples of ancient and rare species. Our trained educators will engage your students in an educational experience they will never forget.

Visiting the gardens

If your school intends visiting the Brisbane Botanic Gardens Mt Coot-tha in a self-guided capacity (without booking a lesson or guided walk), contact us prior to your visit. Due to the increasing number of school and other group bookings, there is a high demand for bus parking spaces, group eating areas and access to specific areas of the gardens (e.g. Japanese Garden and the Tropical Dome). Our Education Coordinator can help you plan a visit at a time when demand is not so heavy.

The Visitor Information Centre entry to the Brisbane Botanic Gardens Mt Coot-tha is a general entry, rather than a large group entry. To reduce congestion in the Visitor Information Centre, we ask that you bring your classes into the gardens via the gate next to the café, or the gate near the entrance to the ring road.

The designated bus parking area is the slip lane in front of the Auditorium. Students may be dropped off and picked up at the Council bus stop and the bus then moved to the parking bay area. For further information, contact the gardens.
