Community gardens

Brisbane City Council is part of a growing network of community gardens and city farms around Australia, providing residents with places to meet and grow healthy food in their neighbourhoods.

Council supports a diverse range of community gardens across the city. Community gardens create a sense of community in neighbourhoods, offering local residents social opportunities that help them connect with their natural environment and promote an active and healthy lifestyle.

Working with community garden groups, Council provides support and resources to help ensure the long-term success of their gardens. Council also helps community groups keep their gardens safe for their members and the community while also ensuring these spaces remain inclusive, accessible and welcoming for the whole community.

If you are considering establishing a community garden, your first step is to contact Council to discuss your idea. Please contact Council on 3403 8888 for further information.
