New City Plan preparation process
When finalised, the new City Plan will be the blueprint for the future. Brisbane City Council is currently at stage two, Write the new City Plan.
The new City Plan process will be completed in the following stages:
Completed in 2009:
1. Create a Statement of Proposals.
This helped to define the scope of the new City Plan.
Current stage
2. Write the new City Plan.
This will include drafting the strategic framework (the pattern for the city's future growth) and updating city-wide planning rules and Brisbane's Priority Infrastructure Plan. This stage also involves the first Queensland Government State Interest check.
3. Consult the community.
Formal statutory public advertising and revision of draft City Plan in response.
4. Finalise the City Plan.
This stage may involve a second Queensland Government State Interest check, where State requires.
