Lodging your application

You can lodge your development application in person at any Regional Business Centre, or if you are a development expert you can email the application to Brisbane City Council.

Applications are also accepted by mail:

Brisbane City Council
GPO Box 1434
Brisbane Qld 4001

If you lodge your application in person, Council will check your application to ensure you have provided the necessary information and the correct fees have been paid. If additional information is required your application will be considered not properly made.

Council will check development applications lodged via email to make sure the properly made requirements of the Sustainable Planning Act 2009 (SPA) are fulfilled before issuing a fee quote. BPAY is the preferred method of payment.

Consequences of incomplete applications

If a development application is not properly made at the time of lodgement, it will be held by Council until it is considered to be properly made. If held, assessment will not begin until all outstanding properly made requirements have been met. This may require you to submit amended plans, additional reports and additional fees. If after 20 business days all these requirements have not been met, the application will lapse.

When Council confirms that the application fulfills the basic properly made requirements of SPA, assessment against the Brisbane City Plan 2000 can commence.  The requirements of the City Plan 2000 may call for additional detailed information in order to allow the application to be properly assessed and decided. In this case an information request may be issued, causing further delay.

You may be charged an incomplete application fee if the necessary documentation and information is not provided at the time of lodgement.
