Traffic and parking control areas

Traffic and parking control areas are regulated and defined by boundary signs in both residential and business areas. Some road markings or signs may indicate specific parking conditions apply, such as special parking zones, limits in traffic and parking control areas. On some streets there are 'P no limit' signs. You can park between these signs for as long as you need.

Brisbane Central Traffic Area

In the Brisbane Central Traffic Area you can park for a maximum of two hours on unsigned streets unless there are parking meters or signs showing otherwise.

This regulated parking area covers the Central Business District and nearby suburbs and localities:

• City (excluding the Roma Street Parkland precinct)
• South Brisbane
• South Bank
• Petrie Terrace
• Spring Hill
• Fortitude Valley
• Newstead
• parts of Bowen Hills
• parts of Mayne
• parts of Kangaroo Point
• parts of West End
• parts of New Farm
• parts of Highgate Hill
• parts of Kelvin Grove
• parts of Herston
• parts of Woolloongabba

The two hour limit applies at these times:

• Monday to Friday - 7am to 6pm
• Saturday - 7am to midday

Signs for the Brisbane Central Traffic Area are located on the area boundaries.

Ballymore Traffic Area

During events at Ballymore a five minute parking limit applies all day (midnight to midnight).

Gabba Traffic Area

A two hour parking limit applies on all unsigned streets Monday to Friday - 7am to 7pm. During events at the Gabba a 15-minute parking limit applies on all unsigned roads from 7am to 10pm.

You can park between 'P no limit' signs in signed streets. These signs usually appear only on one side of the road.

Suncorp Stadium (Lang Park) Traffic Area

During events at Suncorp Stadium a 15-minute parking limit applies on all unsigned roads from midday to 10pm. For information on public transport during events, visit the Translink website.

Robertson/Macgregor Traffic Area

During major events at Queensland Sport and Athletics Centre, a 15 minute parking restriction applies on event days between midday and 11pm.

St Lucia Traffic Area

A two hour parking limit applies on all unsigned streets Monday to Friday - 7am to 6pm. There are signs on the boundary of all streets entering the St Lucia Traffic Area.

The restriction operates between February and November.

Dutton Park Parking Control Area

Between 7am and 7pm, Monday to Friday (excluding public holidays):

• a two hour parking limit applies to all unsigned roads within the area
• a four hour parking limit applies to disability parking bays

Loading bays and 30 minute parking zones are provided near business precincts.

Queensland Tennis Centre Parking Control Area 

During events at the Queensland Tennis Centre, a one hour parking restriction applies from 7am to 10pm on event days only. Streets within this parking control area include:
