About the project
Brisbane City Council has completed the Bicentennial Bikeway– Hale Street west between the Go Between Bridge and the Cribb Street ramp.
The upgrade separates pedestrian and cyclist movements providing a 2.5 metre wide dedicated pedestrian path and 3.5 metre wide cycle path. The Hale Street west project also increases capacity and improves safety for Brisbane’s busiest bikeway, which carries more than 4000 pedestrians and cyclists each day.
Hale Street west is part of a broader Bicentennial Bikeway upgrade initiative, which will separate pedestrians and cyclists from Toowong to the CBD. Brisbane City Council is progressively upgrading the Bicentennial Bikeway to minimise the impact of construction work on pathway users.
Council would like to thank pedestrians, cyclists and residents for their patience and cooperation while works were carried out on this important upgrade in the bikeway network.
The Bicentennial Bikeway – Hale Street west upgrade is part of Lord Mayor Graham Quirk’s commitment for Brisbane City Council to provide $100 million in new bikeway infrastructure over four years. It is also part funded by the Queensland Government.
Benefits
The upgrade provides an improved facility with separated pathways for cyclists and pedestrians.
