About the project
The Tilley Road extension is a five stage project which will ultimately see the Port of Brisbane Motorway linked to Old Cleveland Road through a single direct north-south connection. The overall Tilley Road extension will connect Tilley Road, Wakerley with the Port of Brisbane Motorway, Hemmant.
Stage 1 of the Tilley Road extension involved construction of Kianawah Road South connecting Hargreaves Road to Wondall Road, and was completed in 2011.
Detailed design is now underway for Stage 2 of the Tilley Road extension. This stage involves connecting the intersection of Wynnum Road and Kianawah Road with the intersection of Wondall Road and Kianawah Road South via a one kilometre, four lane road.
Planned Future stages of the Tilley Road extension (timings to be confirmed):
Stage 3: Upgrading Kianawah Road through to Lindum Road to a four lane arterial road
Stage 4: Construction of a new arterial road in dedicated road reserve between Manly Road and the intersection of New Cleveland Road and Tilley Road
Stage 5: Upgrading of Tilley Road from the New Cleveland Road intersection through to Old Cleveland Road to a four lane arterial road.
Project Status
Preliminary design for Stage 2 was completed last year. Funding has been allocated for the 2012/2013 financial year to complete Stage 2 detailed design.
Funding for further stages of this project has not yet been allocated. Therefore, timing and detailed plans of these stages is unknown. Once funding has been allocated, Council will conduct consultation with directly affected landowners, residents and stakeholders during the design and construction phases of the project.
