Road and intersection upgrades

Brisbane City Council's Road Action Program is an unprecedented infrastructure investment that fast tracks 15 years of road works into just four years. The program covers major road works on intersections, bikeways and rail crossings, and will reduce traffic congestion, increase safety and improve access across Brisbane's road network.

• Bracken Ridge - Norris Road intersection improvements at Bracken Ridge Plaza
  Council is installing traffic lights with pedestrian crossing facilities on Norris Road outside Bracken Ridge Plaza at Bracken Ridge.
• Bracken Ridge - Telegraph Road rail crossing replacement project
  Developing a preferred option for replacement of the open level crossing on Telegraph Road over the North Coast rail line.
• Bridgeman Downs - Bridgeman and Beckett Road corridor upgrade project
  Building a north-south connection to meet traffic needs in the Bridgeman Downs and Bald Hills areas.
• Carseldine - Lacey Road at Beams Road intersection improvement
  Improving the intersection to include a dedicated left-turn lane and concrete footpath on Lacey Road.
• Chermside West - Maundrell Terrace/Hamilton Road intersection upgrade
  Upgrading the intersection to include dedicated right turning lanes from Maundrell Terrace into Hamilton Road from both approaches.
• Eagle Farm - Kingsford Smith Drive upgrade project
  Widening Kingsford Smith Drive from four lanes to six lanes between Theodore and Harvey Streets.
• Ferny Grove - Upper Kedron Road upgrade
  An upgrade of Upper Kedron Road is needed to improve safety which will then assist in managing traffic capacity to meet future traffic demands.
• Fitzgibbon - Depot, Lemke and Telegraph Roads intersection upgrade
  Providing a better flow of traffic onto the roundabout and a safer bus zone for passengers.
• Geebung - Robinson Road open level crossing replacement
  Separating the rail crossing from the through road network.
• Hamilton - Racecourse Road and Lancaster Road intersection upgrade
  Upgrading the intersection to include new traffic signals, signalised pedestrian crossings and right turn pockets on Lancaster Road.
• Northgate - Nudgee Road at Toombul Road intersection improvement project
  Extending the right turn lane from the northern leg of Nudgee Road into Toombul Road.

South

• Corinda - Oxley Road and Clewley Street intersection upgrade
  Upgrading the intersection to improve safety and minimise congestion.
• Doolandella - Blunder Road upgrade project stages six and seven
  
  • stage six - realigning Blunder Road with a four-lane road between Blunder Creek and Waderville Street with the option for six lanes in the future
  • stage seven - upgrading the road between Blunder Creek and Crossacres Street to four lanes, with an option for six lanes in the future
• Eight Mile Plains - Miles Platting Road, McKechnie Drive and Buckingham Place intersection upgrade
  Upgrade the intersection of Miles Platting Road, McKechnie Drive and Buckingham Place at Eight Mile Plains.
• Forest Lake - Forest Lake Boulevard and High Street black spot intersection improvement
  Upgrading the Forest Lake Boulevard and High Street intersection at Forest Lake.
• Inala - Serviceton Avenue and Sycamore Street black spot intersection improvement
  Upgrading the Serviceton Avenue and Sycamore intersection at Inala 
• Jindalee - Goggs Road signalised pedestrian crossing
  Installing a signalised pedestrian crossing in Goggs Road, Jindalee to provide safer access between residential properties and commercial businesses.
• Kuraby - Beenleigh Road intersection improvement project
  Improving traffic flow and increasing safety at Donegal Street intersection and St Andrews Street intersection.
• Richlands - Progress Road upgrade stage two
  Widening Progress Road between the Ipswich Motorway and Boundary Road and installing traffic lights at the intersection of Progress Road, Production Street and Industrial Avenue.
• Richlands - Progress Road upgrade stage three
  Stage three has been divided into two separate projects and will be delivered as stages:
  • 3a - widening Progress Road from two to six lanes between Garden Road and Teraba Street
  • 3b - widening Progress Road from two to four lanes between Teraba Street and Boundary Road
• Runcorn - Beenleigh Road/Warrigal Road intersection upgrade
  Increasing the capacity of the intersection, reducing traffic congestion and improving safety for all road users at the intersection of Beenleigh and Warrigal Roads.
• Runcorn - Beenleigh Road and Persse Road black spot intersection improvement
  Council is upgrading this intersection with funding through the Australian Government's Black Sport Program.
• Seventeen Mile Rocks - Seventeen Mile Rocks Road intersection upgrades
  Upgrading the intersections at Oldfield and Seventeen Mile Rocks Roads and Duporth and Seventeen Mile Rocks Roads. The upgrades aim to reduce traffic congestion, improve safety and provide better facilities for cyclists and pedestrians. 
• Sunnybank - Beenleigh Road, Mains Rd and Pinelands Road intersection improvement project
  Upgrading the Beenleigh Road, Mains Road and Pinelands Road intersection at Sunnybank for improved road safety.
• Tarragindi - Toohey Road and Weller Road Tarragindi
  Upgrading the Toohey Road and Weller Road Tarragindi at Tarragindi for improved road safety.
• Willawong - King Avenue and Sherbrooke Road intersection upgrade
  Upgrading the King Avenue and Sherbrooke Road intersection and roundabout to cope with predicted future traffic through the area.
• Willawong/Pallara/Larapinta - Paradise Road upgrade
  Undertaking a feasibility study to identify options for a future upgrade to Paradise Road between Learoyd Road at Willawong and the Logan Motorway at Larapinta/Pallara.

East

• Carindale - Scrub Road and Old Cleveland Road intersection upgrade
  Reducing traffic congestion and improving safety for road users.
• Gumdale - Gumdale Area Traffic Study
  Investigating the transport needs of the Gumdale area.
• Upper Mount Gravatt - Klumpp Road Traffic Signals at Clairvaux MacKillop College
  Upgrading the existing traffic lights and pedestrian crossing facilities on Klumpp Road at the entrance to Clairvaux MacKillop College and St Bernards Catholic Church.
• Wynnum/Manly - Tilley Road extension project
  Linking the Port of Brisbane Motorway to Old Cleveland Road through a single direct north-south connection in a five stage project.

West

• Kenmore Hills - Rafting Ground Road culvert upgrade
  Upgrading the culvert to reduce the frequency of flooding, improve road safety and provide facilities for pedestrians, cyclists and horse riders.
• Sumner/Jamboree Heights - Sumners Road upgrade
  Upgrading Sumners Road between Dandenong and Wacol Station Roads. 
  

City

• James Street, Doggett Street and Robertson Street intersection upgrade
  Upgrading the intersection to improve safety and reduce congestion.
