Road and intersection upgrades

Brisbane City Council's Road Action Program was an unprecedented infrastructure investment that fast-tracked 15 years of road works into four years to the end of June 2012. The program targeted Brisbane's busiest roads and delivered traffic congestion reduction, increased safety, and improved access across Brisbane's road network.

  • Eight Mile Plains - Millers Road and Underwood Road intersection upgrade project
  • Installing traffic signals and dedicated right-turn lanes at three of the approaches to the intersection
  • Richlands - Progress Road upgrade stage three
    Stage three has been divided into two separate projects and will be delivered as stages:
    • 3a - widening Progress Road from two to six lanes between Garden Road and Teraba Street
    • 3b - widening Progress Road from two to four lanes between Teraba Street and Boundary Road
  • Seventeen Mile Rocks - Seventeen Mile Rocks Road intersection upgrades
    Upgrading the intersections at Oldfield and Seventeen Mile Rocks Roads and Duporth and Seventeen Mile Rocks Roads to reduce traffic congestion, improve safety and provide better facilities for cyclists and pedestrians
  • Willawong/Pallara/Larapinta - Paradise Road upgrade
    Undertaking a feasibility study to identify options for a future upgrade to Paradise Road between Learoyd Road at Willawong and the Logan Motorway at Larapinta/Pallara

  • Carindale - Creek Road bridge replacement project
    Improving the safety of the northbound bridge and the flooding immunity of the northbound and southbound carriageways for future additional traffic lanes
  • Gumdale - Gumdale Area Traffic Study
    Investigating the transport needs of the Gumdale area
  • Wynnum/Manly - Tilley Road extension project
  • Linking the Port of Brisbane Motorway to Old Cleveland Road through a single direct north-south connection in a five stage project
