Gathering presents Tjaka.
Having recently played Splendour in the Grass, Dark Mofo, and in front of 30,000 people at Taiwan's PASIWALI Festival, Tjaka have proved to be a must see act whenever, and wherever they play. Brothers Geoff and Jake Fabila are descendants of the Jabirr Jabirr tribe in the Western Australia Kimberley and, joined by Felix Fogarty, this Brisbane/Meanjin-based trio fuse modern technology with ancient sounds to create a contemporary Indigenous experience like no other.
Tjaka's high-energy bangers introduce the use of Didjeribone (a slide didgeridoo, similar to a trombone), electronic beats, and lava-hot rap flow, which melt audiences in a crucible of funk, reggae, and dance.
Be sure to see them live at the Queen Street Mall stage from 12 noon to 1pm.
This Gathering event is produced by Cre8tive Nations.
