Gathering presents Weaving Demonstration with Coconut Palm Leaves by Bowie Solutions.
The Bowie Family acknowledges the traditional owners of this area and their elders. The Bowie Family come from Badu, Mabuiag, Pulu and Erub Islands in the Torres Strait. The traditional weaving they demonstrate is from Erub Island and has been passed down for many generations. They use coconut palm leaves to weave items that have both traditional and contemporary uses.
Join us between 12 noon and 1pm at the main stage of Queen Street Mall for a fun and interactive weaving experience from the Torres Strait Islands.
This Gathering event is produced by Cre8tive Nations.
