2022 International Internship Program eligibility criteria

Brisbane City Council is providing domestic students from multicultural backgrounds, and international students from our Sister Cities, the opportunity to participate in a four-week, paid internship program through the 2022 International Internship Program.

Student applications for the 2022 International Internship Program have now closed.

Domestic students

Domestic students must meet the following eligibility criteria to participate in the 2022 International Internship Program.

  • The applicant must be a domestic student with a culturally and linguistically diverse (CaLD) background and have at least one natural parent born in a country other than Australia. 
  • The applicant must currently live in the Brisbane City Council local government area.
  • The applicant must be an Australia citizen or hold Australian permanent residency.
  • The applicant must be currently enrolled in a bachelor’s degree or higher at an eligible institution. Eligible institutions are those in the Brisbane City Council local government area.
  • The applicant must be a currently enrolled in the final year of study as of 2022. 

International students

International students must meet the following eligibility criteria to participate in the 2022 International Internship Program.

  • The applicant must be an international student enrolled in a bachelor's degree or higher at an eligible Brisbane university. Eligible universities are those in the Brisbane City Council government area.
  • The applicant must hold a valid student visa.
  • The applicant must be in their final year of study as of 2022.
  • The applicant must currently live in the Brisbane City Council local government area.
  • The applicant must obtain an Upper Intermediate to Advanced English level of International English Language Testing System (IELTS) with an overall academic score of 6.5 or above if English is not their native language.
  • The applicant must be from one of Brisbane’s Sister Cities, or have lived in one for more than 12 months with proof of residence:
    • Abu Dhabi
    • Auckland
    • Chongqing
    • Daejeon
    • Hyderabad
    • Kaohsiung
    • Kobe
    • Semarang
    • Shenzhen.
