Election Signs

An Election Sign is a temporary advertisement advocating for or against the election of a candidate or candidates, or a registered political party in respect of a federal, state or local government (Brisbane City Council) election campaign. There are different requirements for Election Signs on private property, public property, polling locations and Mobile Vehicle Election Signs.

Election Signs on footpaths

You do not need approval from Brisbane City Council for an Election Display on the footpath, as long as you comply with the relevant conditions.

Election Signs on private property

Election Signs may be placed on private property without approval from Brisbane City Council during the permitted exhibition period. 

Election Signs at polling locations

On the Election Date independent candidates and registered political parties are permitted to have Election Signs, either static or handheld at polling locations. You do not need approval from Brisbane City Council to display Election Signs, as long as you comply with the relevant conditions.

Mobile Vehicle Election Signs

During the permitted exhibition period, approval from Council for Mobile Vehicle Election Signs will not be required provided the signs adhere to the relevant conditions.
