New year, new opportunities

2021 will be a big year for Brisbane with a number of big projects kicking off across the city, creating jobs and supplier opportunities for local business.

Fabrication works are underway in Brisbane for the new ferry terminals at Howard Smith Wharves and South Bank, with Fitzgerald Constructions Australia beginning on-site works soon. Meanwhile, construction is underway on the next two double-decker CityCats at the Aus Ships shipyard in Murarrie. These projects will support approximately 170 local jobs.

The much-anticipated transformation of Victoria Park begins mid-year with early works, while master planning to build on the Victoria Park Vision, including further community engagement, investigations and studies, will continue throughout the year.

Mid-year, at Rochedale, we will begin construction on one of the largest and most technologically advanced depot facilities in Australia, for Brisbane Metro. This will support an estimated 175 jobs and opportunities for local suppliers.

The successful tenderers for the construction of the Kangaroo Point and Breakfast Creek Green Bridges will be announced from mid-2021, with construction set to start at the end of the year, supporting more than 500 jobs.
