About the project

Brisbane City Council is pleased to advise that construction of the Helen Street drainage upgrade at Teneriffe is now complete. The project was undertaken to ensure the structural integrity of the existing brick drain, which was aged and in need of repair.

The project involved lifting the manhole covers primarily in Helen Street, carrying out work underground to clear the existing pipelines and installing a structural liner to extend the life of the brick drain.

These works have improved the drainage system by stabilising the drain and minimising potential flooding impacts.

Works began in late June 2019 and were completed in August 2019.
