Cowan Cowan erosion protection works - Moreton Island
Brisbane City Council has completed works at Cowan Cowan on Moreton Island to reduce existing erosion and provide some protection against further erosion caused by storms, wind and tidal movements.
The works were an action identified for the area through the ongoing development of Council's Coastal Hazard Adaptation Strategy.

About the project
The works involved relocating sand from the low tide area of Cowan Cowan beach to an 850-metre section of eroded foreshore in front of the Cowan Cowan township.
Earthmoving equipment was used to relocate the sand.
Council would like to thank the community for their patience while these important works were undertaken.
