Love Food Hate Waste Movement

Brisbane City Council has joined the international Love Food Hate Waste movement to help residents save money and reduce the amount of food that is thrown away in Brisbane landfill each year.

Love Food Hate Waste was launched in 2007 by the Waste and Resources Action Program (WRAP) in the United Kingdom.

Since its launch, millions of people have responded, resulting in reduced food waste across the United Kingdom, New Zealand, Canada and Australia.

Council has combined local research with the expertise of our international and national Love Food Hate Waste friends, to help empower Brisbane residents to reduce food waste at home.

While food waste currently makes up about one quarter of the average Brisbane rubbish bin, there are simple changes that we can all make in the kitchen to keep Brisbane clean, green and sustainable.
