Reusable Cup Campaign | Brisbane City Council

Reusable Cup Campaign

Brisbane City Council is supporting the community to avoid single-use takeaway cups. By adopting simple behaviour changes, to create a clean and green Brisbane.

Council commenced the Reusable Cup Campaign in November 2017 by asking Brisbane coffee drinkers to join the movement and use a reusable coffee mug.

Be a reuse hero and share your moment on social media. Use hashtags #reusebne and #BrisbaneCityCouncil.

While Council accepts takeaway cups in recycling bins, we recognise this waste is a growing issue. Council's 2017 waste survey indicated we throw away approximately 156 million single-use coffee cups in Brisbane each year. We all need to work towards more sustainable behaviours to reduce the amount of waste sent to landfill.

Taking your reusable coffee cup to local cafes helps support a clean and green Brisbane.

Join our Reusable Cup Campaign May 2019

You can help create a clean and green city by participating in the latest round of the Reusable Cup Campaign. Council will select 100 cafes to receive 20 reusable coffee cups to gift to their loyal customers.

Fill in the online form to register your interest. Council will contact successful cafes.

Your customers also receive a loyalty card to stamp when they use their reusable cup. The tenth visit earns them a free coffee.

Council has already recruited more than 200 Brisbane cafes to participate in previous rounds of the Reusable Cup Campaign. Find out more about business recyling.
