Planetarium to expand attendance numbers

Brisbane City Council wishes to advise that up to 60 people will now be permitted inside the Sir Thomas Brisbane Planetarium at any one time with enhanced safety and social distancing measures in place, in accordance with State Government regulations.

Bookings must be made by:

  • emailing the booking office 
  • phoning the booking office on 07 3403 2578

Entry to the venue is to attend a show only, with the galaxy giftshop and mini theatre temporarily closed. 

Guests must provide contact details at the time of booking to ensure contact tracing may be conducted if necessary.

We politely request that you refrain from visiting the Sir Thomas Brisbane Planetarium should you start displaying any of the symptoms associated with COVID-19. Please contact the booking office should you need to change your booking.

The Planetarium will be open Tuesday to Sunday with the following modified opening hours: 

  • Tuesday to Friday 10am-4pm (phone lines open 9.30am-4pm)
  • Saturday 9.00am-4.00pm (Phone lines open 8.30am-3.30pm)
  • Sunday 9.00am-3pm (Phone lines open 8.30am-2.30pm)

Special reopening prices have been introduced:

  • Adults $10, Child $6 (3-14 years)
  • Saturday Afternoon Live sessions – Adults $12, Child $8 (3-14 years).

Note: All shows include "Highlights of Brisbane Night Sky" - a brief overview of what’s in the present evening sky. Show durations range from about 30 to 35 minutes with Saturday Afternoon Live Show being up to 50 minutes
