Update to cemeteries, crematoriums and funeral services

Brisbane City Council wishes to advise that up to 200 people may now attend outdoor and outdoor/indoor funerals and memorial services, and up to 1 person per 2 sqm may attend indoor funerals and memorial services at Council’s cemeteries, crematoriums and chapels.

As such, Council chapels will now be able to cater for up to 50 attendees for indoor services.

This is in accordance with State Government regulations.

While all services remain operational at cemeteries and crematoriums, residents should consider making appointments for visits such as collecting ashes. Plaques can be arranged via email or phone.

Live streaming options for chapel services remain available and catering services have recommenced with appropriate enhanced safety measures in place.

We encourage all residents to continue to practice safe social distancing and hygiene while using Council facilities.

Brisbane City Council is working closely with the Australian Government and Queensland Health and is following their expert health advice to help minimise the transmission of coronavirus.

As updates are available, they will be included on Council’s website. For more information visit www.brisbane.qld.gov.au or phone Council on (07) 3403 8888.
