Commercial Road drainage upgrade - Teneriffe
The drainage upgrade at Commercial Road, Teneriffe is part of Brisbane City Council’s commitment to ensuring our city has the services and infrastructure to meet the needs of future generations.
|Address||Commercial Road, Teneriffe|
|Project outcomes||Improve drainage system by increasing capacity and minimising potential flooding impacts.|
About the project
- installing a new 1650 millimetre stormwater pipe along Commercial Road from Vernon Terrace to Harcourt Street along with smaller diameter pipes to connect to the existing drainage system. Works will also enter Chermside Street, Kent Street and Harcourt Street
- upgrading supporting drainage infrastructure in Florence Street, Chermside Street, Kent Street and Harcourt Street
- installing new gully pits and manholes
- sealing abandoned pipes and filling with concrete.
Council is pleased to advise the first stage of these works has been completed. These works involved installing new stormwater drainage infrastructure from the intersection of Commercial Road and Skyring Terrace, along Commercial Road to Harcourt Street and included drainage connection works within Florence Street and Chermside Street.
The second stage will involve installing new stormwater infrastructure at the intersection of Harcourt Street and Commercial Road, along Harcourt Street for approximately 45 metres and into the unnamed laneway beside 315 Harcourt Street for about 15 metres.
The program for the second stage of construction for the Commercial Road drainage upgrade project is being rescheduled.
At the Commercial Road and Harcourt Street intersection, underground Energex services have been located deeper than expected. Due to the depth and configuration, these services will need to be relocated by Energex to a suitable depth for the stormwater pipes to pass underneath.
Once Energex works are completed, the remaining project works in Commercial Road and Harcourt Street will be re-programmed. It is anticipated that the scheduled works will recommence in the second half of 2020, subject to the completion of Energex's relocation works. Council will endeavour to complete this project as quickly as possible once Energex relocation works are complete.
Council is committed to keeping the community informed of the project works and will provide advance notification of the rescheduled works.
