Council to provide automatic $5000 water rebate to eligible community sports clubs

Brisbane City Council will provide eligible community sports clubs a one-off water payment rebate of $5000, to assist clubs cover the cost of maintaining their grounds during coronavirus-related closure.

The $5000 rebate will provide eligible sporting and recreation clubs with enough water to irrigate one soccer or rugby field for up to nine weeks.

It will be applied directly to clubs’ Urban Utilities water accounts before 30 June 2020, covering both the retail component and the state bulk water charge, and requiring no administration effort from the clubs.

The rebate is part of a package of financial assistance measures available to eligible organisations.
