About the project
Council will construct a new maintenance works compound to ensure Council's busiest cemetery has the facilities to continue ongoing operations.
This project is part of Council's commitment to ensuring our city has the services and infrastructure to meet the needs of future generations.
The project involves the following works:
- Constructing a new works compound within the Cemetery.
- Moving Council equipment such as machinery, fuel and chemical stores.
- Relocating existing staff amenities to the new compound.
Works to relocate the Mount Gravatt Cemetery depot are scheduled to start in mid-March 2020 and be complete by mid-2020, weather and construction conditions permitting.
Construction will take place between 6.30am and 6.30pm, Monday to Saturday. Council is committed to keeping the community informed of construction in their area and will provide advance notification of any out-of-hours activities.
Cemetery visitors, local residents and businesses in close proximity to the work area may experience some construction noise and low levels of vibration. Every effort will be made to minimise disruption to the local community during this work.
