Winners were announced on Thursday 7 July 2022 at Brisbane Powerhouse.

Innovation Award

The winner of the Innovation Award is Laius.

Laius is an electronic pop artist influenced by various electronic dance music sub-genres and commercial pop. With this blend of conceptual lyricism and original sound design, Laius is forging his own path in the world of music.

QUBE Development Award

The winner of the QUBE Development Award is Bridget O'Shannessy.

Up and coming pop-rock artist Bridget lights up the stage with her catchy original anthems and glittery personality. Bridget’s 'Sydney Street' was written about her new venture as a young 20-something living in New Farm, Brisbane.

Original Song Award

The winner of the Original Song Award is Flamingo Blonde.

Flamingo Blonde is the project of James Bartlett, supported by The Brunettes. Resonating with the sound of a fresh humid sunshine and cool summer nights, Flamingo Blonde brings broad reference points together into tongue-in-cheek music that is unequivocally blonde

Lord Mayor's Live Event Award

The winner of the Lord Mayor's Live Event Award is Andy Martin.

Andy Martin’s energetic indie-pop/rock sound has made a mark with the release of singles 'Heat of it All' and 'Mess We Made'. After a run of sell out live shows to celebrate the launch of the EP, Andy is already making waves so early into his career.

People's Choice Award

The winner of the People's Choice Award is Flag Duty.

Indie-pop/rock band Flag Duty have spent the last couple of years developing a colourful sound and establishing themselves as energetic and eccentric entertainers. The band creates their genre-blending sound through combining the musical hooks of indie-rock with catchy pop melodies and honest lyricism.

Splendour in the Grass Arts and Music Festival 2022

Splendour in the Grass Arts and Music Festival is arguably Australia’s best known contemporary music festival. Each July, this four-day camping festival draws more than 50,000 music lovers to the Byron Bay area and the chance to perform at this event is a once in a lifetime opportunity. The act selected for this prize will be offered the opportunity to perform live at Splendour in the Grass 2023.

The Splendour in the Grass Performance Partner prize winner is NXT

NXT are the new and modern spin on a boyband! Originally a dance crew, since transitioning into music, NXT have found their sound that amalgamates hip hop/trap and pop, as well as elements of electronic and electronic dance music (EDM).

World Science Festival Brisbane 2023

Presented by Queensland Museum Network, World Science Festival Brisbane (WSFB) paints the town red and takes science out of the laboratory and into the streets, parks, museums, galleries and performing arts venues of Brisbane and regional Queensland! Since its launch in 2016, WSFB has attracted over 830,000 attendees.

The World Science Festival Brisbane prize winner is Kalopsia

Kalopsia is the solo project of songwriter Maia Efstathis. The genre-blending of pop, funk and space disco is defined by groovy bass lines, luscious synth tones and disco style beats.

GOMA Up Late

QAGOMA's signature Up Late events sees the gallery's iconic spaces filled with live music by cutting edge and emerging musicians from around the world. Up Late has hosted exclusive live performances by Caribou, Wolfmother, Katie Noonan, Akron/Family, Chet Faker, DJ Krush, Future Islands, Bonnie 'Prince' Billy, Courtney Barnett, Shonen Knife and Kamahl and more. The act selected for this prize will be offered the opportunity to perform at a QAGOMA Up Late event.

The GOMA Up Late Performance Partner prize winner is Special Features

Special Features is a love letter to the 1990s and the local noise of the Aussie indie-rock scene. This high school trio packs a hard-hitting punch with a variety of different styles, varying from melodic pop-rock songs to raw, heavy and intense grunge rock.

Teneriffe Festival 2023

Teneriffe Festival is Brisbane’s biggest street party, celebrating the rich heritage and diverse community of the area. The one-day event attracts approximately 50,000 people and plays host to a range of musical acts, activities, artists, and food and drinks experiences.

The Teneriffe Performance Partner prize winner is Dave & The Mudcrabs

Dave & The Mudcrabs are a 5-piece band that blend catchy pop melodies with an energetic brand of alternative-rock. Inspired by feel-good beach songs, the band loves to get people up and dancing to their music and having an energetic time on stage.
