Creative Sparks Program 2017 grant recipients

The following Creative Sparks grants projects were approved in March 2017.

Successful grant recipients received funding to implement creative projects, develop professional practice or foster creative entrepreneurial partnerships with Brisbane artists and cultural workers.

Argo Argo 2017 concert season - immersive art music Argo was aapproved to produce a series of six immersive art and music concerts in 2017, featuring seven new commissions by young Brisbane composers. $17,600
Monika Koemer Locally Sourced The project was approved to commission five Brisbane-based composers of varying genres to write new works for flute, bassoon and a third instrument of their choice to be featured in a program titled, Locally Sourced. $20,460
Rock and Roll Writers Festival Rock and Roll Writers Festival 2017 The project was approved to support the Rock and Roll Writers Festival 2017 to retain a quality program and extend audience reach and participation. $10,862.50

Dr Emma Lindsay Anthropocene project: Great Barrier Reef The project was approved to research, develop and produce a solo visual arts exhibition in artist Dr Emma Lindsay's Brisbane studio, highlighting regional Queensland Great Barrier Reef species and habitats. $20,900
Festival of Contemporary Dance Brisbane Inc. Emerging Indigenous dance producer for Supercell 2018 Festival of Contemporary Dance Brisbane was approved to engage a Brisbane-based emerging Indigenous producer to work on key Indigenous dance projects fro the 2018 Supercell Festival. $20,000
Kate Wild The Sound of a Finished Kiss The project was approved to enable the creative development of a new music theatre work featuring the songs of Brisbane indie-rock band, The Go-Betweens. $20,570
La Boite Theatre Company Development of a new play by Steven Oliver La Boite was approved to develop a new play by Indigenous artist Steven Oliver through their artist-in-residence program with the aim to present the work in 2018. $14,781
The Good Room 'We Offer Our Heartfelt Apologies' Final creative development process of 'We Offer Our Heartfelt Apologies' ahead of 2017 premiere. $16,060
