Innovation Grants Program
Brisbane City Council is committed to being a globally competitive city and developing opportunities for the creative workforce to prosper in Brisbane. The Innovation Grants Program is designed to support and encourage the growth of new creative businesses, partnerships and start-ups.
Applicants may apply for up to $10,000 per application. The Innovation Grants Program comprises three grants of $10,000 for applications demonstrating innovation through uniqueness of idea in the creative industries.
The Innovation Grants Program funding will be allocated through a competitive process to three separate applicants for advancing the development of a creative enterprise through one; or a combination of the following:
- an innovative product
- an innovative project
- an innovative collaboration
- an innovative business idea.
Funding round dates
Applications for the next round of this program will open on Monday 14 October and will close on Monday 16 December.
An applicant should:
- be an individual living in the Brisbane Local Government Area (LGA)
- be an incorporated organisation, unincorporated organisation or small business based in the Brisbane LGA
- be a permanent resident or Australian citizen
- have an Australian Business Number (ABN) or nominate an accountable auspice body that has an ABN.
An unincorporated organisation may also apply, under the auspices of an incorporated organisation able to accept legal and financial responsibility for the applicant’s project.
Auspice organisations must be based in the Brisbane LGA and are limited to supporting a maximum of two applications per round.
Small businesses must have a turnover of less than $2 million per year.
Applicants must operate within the Brisbane LGA.
Applicants must not have any overdue Council grant acquittals or outstanding debts with Council.
Acquittal reports for successful applicants
If your application is successful, you will be required to complete an online acquittal form within 24 months of grant approval notification.
Grant recipients with overdue acquittal reports are not eligible to apply for other Council grants.
