Creative Hub | Brisbane City Council

Creative Hub

In 2016 Council committed to funding the costs of a lease to establish a Creative Hub in the West End area. Brisbane City Council is dedicated to supporting and empowering Brisbane artists and emerging artists.

This project highlights Council’s commitment to creative enterprises and creating new lifestyle and leisure opportunities for Brisbane residents by supporting our local creative industries.

About the project

After an extensive search for a suitable facility, Council secured a property at 1/170 Montague Road, South Brisbane. The site is approximately 550 square metres, has a distinctive warehouse feel, offers a range of spaces for multiple art and creative activities, and is 350 metres from Boundary Street, West End.

Throughout July 2017, Council sought expressions of interest from community organisations to operate and manage the Creative Hub, Outer Space Artist Run Initiative (ARI) was the preferred applicant for the tenancy.

The Creative Hub will be utilised as a centre for multidisciplinary creative events.

Outer Space ARI will be responsible for the management and operation of studio and gallery spaces, residency programs and will facilitate tailored education and career development experiences.

Creative Hub available to rent

Space suited for arts and performance use is currently available for individuals or community members to rent.

Contact Outer Space ARI for more information about upcoming activities and events, renting a space, membership and volunteer opportunities.
