In 2013, BrisAsia Festival launched as an annual festival showcasing contemporary and traditional Asian arts and cultural events, programs and initiatives. The festival provides professional and creative sector development opportunities for Brisbane-based creatives with a strong interest in the Asia region and whose creative practice is reflective of this.
In 2016, BrisAsia Festival was held over three weeks and hosted 80 events in 41 suburbs across Brisbane. More than 70,000 people attended events across the city and 537 artists, curators, producers and specialist technicians participated in the BrisAsia Festival.
BrisAsia Festival was held from Friday 27 January - Sunday 19 February 2017. The program featured a variety of free activities to experience Brisbane’s diverse Asian communities.
