Brisbane City Council is looking for Brisbane’s best new musical talent! The QUBE Effect is a music program that provides live performance and promotional and development opportunities for emerging and professional Brisbane musicians.
Twenty-four musical groups, including soloists, duos and bands, will be shortlisted by an industry panel and provided the opportunity to nurture their talent as musicians over a six-month program. The program includes video clip filming, industry networking, live performances, management workshops, prizes and more.
The QUBE Effect live performances on 7 and 14 April are presented as part of Youth Week 2018. Council is committed to creating new lifestyle and leisure opportunities, helping to deliver more than 50,000 exciting events, festivals and markets each year and building better facilities and venues for all ages to enjoy.

People’s Choice Award
From 15 May to 14 June 2018, the public can view the film clips recorded and vote for their favourite act. The winner will take home a cash prize as well as a paid performance at Jungle Love Festival 2018.
The winner of the Innovation Award will win a strategic planning and publicity campaign package provided by Kitty Kitty Bang Bang, as well as free venue hire and associated marketing for a performance at The Foundry.
Best Original Song
Winner of the Best Original Song will score a one-day recording session at Queensland University of Technology’s state-of-the-art recording studios.
Green Jam Award
A paid performance at one of QPAC’s famous Gig on the Green sessions is up for grabs for the Green Jam Award winner.
Lord Mayor’s City Hall Concert Award
Join the ranks of national and international performers with a paid performance in Brisbane’s iconic City Hall.
