Healthy and Physical Activity Grants 2014-15 recipients

The following Healthy and Physical Activity Grant projects were approved in 2014-15.

Successful recipients receive funding for projects to increase participation in community sport, recreation and physical activity in Brisbane.

Australian Skateboarding Development Federation Ltd To develop a program based at skate parks that acts as a competition pathway in developing the future of the sport. $18,078
Guide Dogs for the Blind Association of Queensland Development of a table tennis activity ("Swish") at the Bald Hills campus to promote equal opportunities for sporting activities and increased social inclusion amongst blind and vision impaired persons.  $7050
Open Minds Australia  To establish "iFitness" for individuals who are particularly vulnerable to preventable lifestyle related illnesses. Funds will enable program coordination, volunteer training/registration, equipment purchase and the establishment of partnerships and information resources to ensure sustainability and growth. $20,000
Queensland Police-Citizens Youth Welfare Association Lang Park PCYC TRANSFORM, is an intensive healthy lifestyle and fitness program for 'at risk' young people, to be delivered in partnership with local alternative schools. $17,950
Wesley Mission Brisbane To provide an aquatic exercise programme for younger people with mental health issues and frail aged clients, who have very limited capacity to engage in regular exercise. $12,200
