Creative Sparks Program 2016 grant recipients

The following Creative Sparks grants projects were approved in May 2016.

Successful grant recipients receive funding to implement creative projects, develop professional practice or foster creative entrepreneurial partnerships with Brisbane artists and cultural workers.

Force of Circumstance Eve and He Dreamed a Train Create and present two Brisbane theatre shows Eve and He Dreamed a Train for national touring. The project will conduct minimum five master classes in collaborative storytelling and integrating digital projection in contemporary performance. $22,000
Kieran Welch (Dots+Loops) Dots+Loops: Recomposed Dots+Loops: Recomposed is a series of traditional classical and club or rock concerts. $5500
Lisa Wilson Projects Wireless Create and premiere new inter-media dance theatre piece involving weaving together of dance, music and design by choreographer Lisa Wilson and composer Paul Charlier. $17,981
Playlab Inc Blue Bones by Merlynn Tong Produce and present a production of Blue Bones, a multi-lingual Asian Australian piece about romance blighted by domestic violence. $20,000
Queensland Film Festival Queensland Film Festival 2016 The film festival will bring together local and interstate film audiences to participate in watching artistically significant films and critical discussion. $18,590

The Uniting Church in Australia Property Trust (Q.) – Art from the Margins Creative Pathways Establish four creative mentorships/artistic partnerships between Brisbane artists living with disadvantage or social isolation (including mental health issues, physical or intellectual disabilities, or from a refugee background) with four established professional working artists. $17,000
