Brisbane City Council's libraries have online resources especially for students, including:

Council's libraries can also help you with your homework by providing:

  • free internet time and training
  • personal assistance using reference materials and locating online assignment information
  • photocopiers
  • study rooms, word processing facilities and printers at selected libraries

ibrary website

ibrary.com.au is a youth initiative developed by Brisbane City Council libraries – exclusively for high school students in Brisbane. Young people in Brisbane can connect with peers to discuss school assignments, study resources and reading interests, find out what’s happening for young adults in Brisbane and access free information databases, music, magazines, newspapers and eBooks available with Council library membership. 

Online student resources

The online reference library at eLibCat gives you access to resources including science and the environment databases, Brisbane information, online encyclopedias, magazines and newspapers.

At eLibCat there are resources especially for students, including:

  • Britannica Online - access the entire Encyclopaedia Britannica database
  • MasterFILE Premier - provides daily updated full-text for reference publications including books, biographies, primary source documents, images, photos, maps and flags
  • World Magazine Bank - full-text from international journals and publications in general interest subject areas
  • Australia/New Zealand Reference Centre - full-text of major Australasian and international magazines and newspapers
  • Electronic Australiana - National Library of Australia site offering a range of electronic Australiana resources available on the internet. You can go straight to Electronic Australiana
