Name of grant
Heritage Incentives Scheme.
Value of Council funding received
How have you used your grant funding? What have you been able to achieve and how does this benefit the community?
The grant was a partial reimbursement of funds spent on the conservation of the church tower. Using best practice conservation methods, heritage masons and consultants, the crumbling stonework of the tower was restored. Where we could save them, the stones were kept and retooled and where they were too far gone, the stones were replaced with exacting precision. The result is amazing and we hope to continue this work until the tower is finished.
What advice do you have for other applicants who are applying for a Council grant?
Carefully read the Heritage Grant Eligibility Criteria and Application Conditions on the BCC website. The City Architecture and Heritage Team are very approachable and can be contacted on 3403 8888 to discuss your project. Owners of Heritage Places can apply for a grant at any time before starting their project.
