Hanworth House

Name of grant

Heritage Incentives Scheme.

Value of Council funding received

$7065.

How have you used your grant funding? What have you been able to achieve and how does this benefit the community?

Our grant helped us replace the old roof sheets and rainwater goods on Hanworth House. These were designed to match the originals in every detail and now we have a strong watertight protection for the house. In this way, we can continue to operate as an important community facility.

What advice do you have for other applicants who are applying for a Council grant?

One of the challenges in moving forward with any decision to outlay money is that you don't always know assistance exists. Whilst the application process may seem onerous, the rewards from achieving financial and support assistance from Council is well worth the effort.

St Paul's Presbyterian Church, Spring Hill

Name of grant

Heritage Incentives Scheme.

Value of Council funding received

$15,000.

How have you used your grant funding? What have you been able to achieve and how does this benefit the community?

The grant was a partial reimbursement of funds spent on the conservation of the church tower. Using best practice conservation methods, heritage masons and consultants, the crumbling stonework of the tower was restored. Where we could save them, the stones were kept and retooled and where they were too far gone, the stones were replaced with exacting precision. The result is amazing and we hope to continue this work until the tower is finished.
