2018 Future BNE Challenge
This page includes information about Green Heart Schools Future BNE Challenge held during World Science Festival Brisbane in 2018.
The 2018 Green Heart Schools Future BNE Challenge engaged close to 400 Year 7 students and challenged them to think critically to design and create unique solutions to ensure our water security in 2100. In their teams, students evaluated local and global water use to understand the importance of sustainably managing water resources. Each team used recycled materials to build a three dimensional water security model and recorded a video pitch to describe and explain their solution.
Student teams competed to win prizes in six award categories.The winners of the 2018 Future BNE Challenge were:
- All Hallows' School
- Aspley State High School
- Brisbane Girls Grammar School
- Clairvaux MacKillop College
- Ferny Grove State High School
- Mount Alvernia College (morning team)
Deliver the classroom challenge
As easy-to-deliver classroom version of the 2018 event is available to teachers on request. It can be paired with the live-streaming video recording available on Council's YouTube channel.
